How to Use This Calculator
Filter by Workbench or Tier
Use the top filter bar to narrow down recipes. Choose a bench type — Armor Bench, Weapon Bench, Workbench, Cooking Bench, etc. — then optionally pick a required tier (1, 2, or 3) to show only recipes you can currently craft.
Select Your Item
Click the search field and type any item name. Partial matches work. Each result shows the quality color and required bench at a glance — so you can spot the Adamantite Chest (Rare, Armor Bench T3) without opening the recipe first.
Set Quantity & Track Inventory
Use the +/− buttons or type directly in the quantity box. Toggle "Track Owned" to enter how many of each material you already have — the remaining need updates live, with a progress bar. Items you've fully covered turn green.
Read the Ingredient Tree
The collapsible tree shows every sub-craft inside your recipe. Click any branch node to expand or collapse it. Leaf nodes (raw materials with no further recipe) appear in pink. Use "Expand All" to view the full chain at once.
Build a Batch List
Click "+ Add to Batch" for each item you want to craft in the same session. Or load a Quick Set preset (like the full Adamantite armor set) to populate the list instantly. The batch section combines all material requirements and shows total bench time.
Check Bench Upgrade Costs
Each recipe card shows the required bench tier. Expand "Bench Upgrade Costs" to see exactly what materials you need to reach that tier — Tier 2 and Tier 3 benches each have their own upgrade recipe with specific ingredient lists.
Hytale Crafting System — What You Need to Know
Three-Tier Bench System
Most benches — the Armor Bench, Weapon Bench, and Workbench — support three upgrade tiers. Tier 1 is the base bench you craft with basic materials. Tier 2 and 3 require progressively rarer ingredients: Thorium and Cobalt bars feature heavily in Tier 2 upgrades, while Tier 3 brings in essences and endgame components like Voidheart. Each tier also reduces crafting time (Tier 2: −15%, Tier 3: −30%), which matters during long production sessions.
Nested Material Chains
Crafting end-game gear involves multiple layers. An Adamantite Chest requires 28 Adamantite Bars — but those bars must be smelted from ore in a Furnace first. The Cindercloth Scraps come from a Loom, and Heavy Leather from a Tannery. The ingredient tree shows every layer so you know which benches to build before you start farming.
Knowledge-Gated Recipes
Many crafting recipes require learning them first through the Memory system. Bronze and ornate armor pieces, for example, have knowledgeRequired: true. You won't see a recipe at the bench until you've learned it. The calculator shows all recipes — so you can plan what you want to learn before committing memory slots.
Reference: Full Adamantite Set Materials
Adamantite is the top armor tier in the current build. Every piece needs a Tier 3 Armor Bench. Here's the direct material cost — not counting the ore-to-bar smelting step.
| Piece | Adamantite Bars | Heavy Leather | Cindercloth Scraps | Craft Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helmet | 15 | 5 | 4 | 3s |
| Chest Plate | 28 | 8 | 7 | 3s |
| Leg Guards | 22 | 7 | 6 | 3s |
| Gloves | 12 | 4 | 3 | 3s |
| Total | 77 | 24 | 20 | ~12s |
Adamantite Bars smelt at roughly 1 bar per ore (confirmed from furnace data). Budget ~80 Adamantite Ore for the full set. The Armor Bench Tier 3 upgrade itself requires 25 Thorium Bars, 25 Cobalt Bars, 40 Shadoweave Scraps, 40 Sturdy Chitin, and 3 Voidheart.

Common Questions
Why does the material list include more ingredients than the recipe card shows?
When an ingredient is itself craftable — like Adamantite Bars (made from ore at a Furnace) — the calculator traces that sub-recipe and rolls its raw materials into the totals. The ingredient tree shows every layer. If you already have processed materials like bars, use the "Track Owned" feature to subtract them from the requirements.
What's the difference between Armor Bench and Weapon Bench crafting?
Armor Bench handles all armor slots (head, chest, legs, hands) and shields. Weapon Bench covers swords, maces, battleaxes, daggers, and bows. Each bench has separate Tier 2 and Tier 3 upgrade recipes — and separate upgrade material lists. The calculator shows bench upgrade costs inline when you select a recipe that requires a specific tier.
Do higher bench tiers reduce crafting time?
Yes — Tier 2 benches reduce crafting time by 15%, and Tier 3 by 30%. For a 3-second recipe, that brings the time down to roughly 2.1 seconds. The savings stack meaningfully when you're crafting dozens of items in a session, or producing consumables in bulk.
How do I plan crafting a full gear set?
Use the Batch Builder. Select each armor piece and click "+ Add to Batch" (or load the Adamantite Full Set preset directly). The batch section totals all required materials and shows combined craft time — so you have a single shopping list for the entire set rather than calculating each piece separately.
Some items don't show a recipe — why?
Not every item is craftable. Some are drops from specific enemies (Zone 3 void creatures, boss loot), purchased from NPC traders, or obtained through other means. If an item doesn't appear in the search results here, it's likely drop-only. Check the Creature Encyclopedia for drop sources, or the Items Database for sourcing options.
What does the ingredient tree's color coding mean?
Blue-left-bordered nodes are craftable ingredients — click them to expand their own sub-recipe. Pink-left-bordered leaf nodes are raw materials with no further recipe: things you need to gather, mine, or loot directly. The root item at the top always shows in indigo to distinguish it from its children.
